Finance Assistant – Interim Position (June–December 2026)
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a structured and service minded Finance Assistant to join an international organisation in Copenhagen.
About the Workplace
You will be working at the European Environment Agency (EEA), an EU agency whose mission is to provide independent information and data on the environment and climate to support Europe’s environmental policies and long-term sustainability goals.
- The EEA consists of 32 member countries and 6 cooperating countries, working closely with the Eionet network.
- The agency is headquartered in Copenhagen.
- EEA informs policymakers and the public through reports, indicators, and assessments on the state of Europe’s environment.
About the Role
As Finance Assistant, you will support the finance team with a variety of administrative and financial tasks. You will become part of a professional environment where accuracy, service and collaboration are key. The role offers a high degree of independence in daily tasks, while working closely with experienced finance officers.
Key Responsibilities
Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Invoice processing – capturing invoices received by email into the finance system and preparing them for payment under the supervision of finance officers
- Travel reimbursements – processing travel and accommodation reimbursements for participants attending large meetings, using the organisation’s meeting system
- VAT returns – handling VAT-related payments to support the quarterly VAT submission to the Danish authorities
- Monitoring and administrative processes
- Other finance related tasks at a similar level of responsibility
Your Profile
Education
- Completed advanced secondary education, preferably within administration, communication or finance
- Experience performing finance transactions and administrative tasks
- Strong service orientation and flexibility in handling tasks and deadlines
- Good collaboration and communication skills, with a positive approach to teamwork
- Very good command of MS Office tools
- Experience with finance or accounting system SAP is an advantage
Language Skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
